About Georgina Catlin

I have been practicing Family Law since 2016, prior to qualifying as a Solicitor in 2018. Going through a separation can be one of the worst experiences in someone’s life and I know separation can be a very daunting prospect. I feel extremely passionate and committed to ensuring that the process is made as straightforward as possible for my clients, by delivering firm and clear advice, whilst trying to achieve a swift and fair settlement.

Over the years, I have developed a strong ability to empathise with my clients and pride myself of being warm and approachable to all. Positive mental health is really important to me and I will always encourage clients to seek additional support if required.

What I like about working for Goughs

Since joining Goughs in 2019, I have flourished as a Solicitor. I have all the support I need from a large Family Department in order to provide an excellent service to my clients, whilst also ensuring I have a great work/life balance. We have an extremely supportive and open culture at Goughs which enables me to say that I love not only my job but my workplace.

Accreditations / certifications / panel representation:

First-class degree in Law and Criminology at the University of the West of England

Member of Resolution

Working towards converting my Law Degree into a Masters, with specific focuses on Family Law

I specialise in divorce and separation matters, including complex financial matters.

I also assist in negotiating and advocating arrangements for children within court proceedings, domestic abuse issues and subsequent injunction proceedings if required.

I am a member of our Armed Forces team.

Greatest Achievement

I am extremely proud of the fact I was able to qualify as a Solicitor whilst also working full time in the legal sector over the course of four years. This provided me with invaluable experience in order to carry out my current job.

I also enjoy taking part in Goughs regular events to support our Charity of the Year. I have been heavily involved in the selection process for the firm’s Charity of the Year. We carry out regular exercising challenges in teams across the Firm, with a primary focus on being outdoors and keeping active, something I feel is really important for a healthy life and mind.

In my spare time, I regularly go on long walks exploring the surrounding villages in Wiltshire with my Hungarian Vizsla, Bella.

Supported by...

I am supported by Sandra Emery, who provides excellent emotional support to clients if I am not available. She can be contacted via

“Sandra was efficient at picking up instructions and communicating with me.”

Testimonials from clients

My recent cases

In a recent case where I acted for a father who was prevented from overnight contact with his children, I successfully negotiated commencement of overnight contact by making an application to court and persuading the Court that this was in the children’s best interest.

In another, an agreement was successfully negotiated for interim maintenance whereby my client had reached retirement age and had no private pension provision of her own before the overall matters could be agreed upon.
