Your Notary Public questions answered
A Notary Public is a specially qualified individual who is authorised to certify both legal and commercial documents to be used abroad.
A Notary’s seal and signature is internationally recognised as evidence of a legal officer and verifies that the document in question has been properly executed and all relevant checks have been carried out.
Notary Public’s represent a very small, yet niche and specialist branch of the law.
One of the key differences between a solicitor and a Notary Public is that in normal legal cases, the solicitor’s priority would always be the client, whereas the Notary’s primary concern relates to the transaction and the authenticity and validity of the documents.
Notary Public’s must maintain complete impartiality and integrity as they are recognised worldwide. You can therefore have complete peace of mind in instructing Isabel to look after your Notary matters.
In most circumstances an authorised translation expert would usually be required to translate any documents before they are signed.
However, in cases where the Notary Public is completely satisfied that the applicant has fully understood the documents they have, as they are perhaps a native speaker themselves, a Notary can make the decision to sign the documents.
As with all legal matters, you will need to provide ID in order to get a Notary to sign and verify your documentation.
This can be provided via a variety of options, including a passport, identity card, driving licence and more. You may also be required to provide proof of residence via a recent utility bill or council tax bill.
For further information please contact Isabel direct who will be delighted to advise directly.

Isabel was very diligent in identifying land which wasn’t adopted near the property, ensuring that the vendors completed a statutory declaration and provided indemnity insurance. Highly recommended.
