Do I need a conveyancing solicitor to remortgage?

In some circumstances, for example, borrowing more money from your existing lender on your current arrangement, you may not need a mortgaging solicitor.

You will although need to instruct a conveyancing solicitor when adding or removing someone from your mortgage.

How long does the remortgage process take?

The process of remortgaging is generally much quicker than buying or selling property, but it can still take a couple of months. To save time during the process, you can stay with the same lender, however many of your decisions to remortgage may be related to moving away from your current provider. It is generally quicker if you are remortgaging with the same lender. Therefore if you are looking to remortgage, ensure you give yourself at least two months before your current arrangement expires.

How much does remortgaging cost?

The legal fees involved in remortgaging are likely to be less than when you originally applied for a mortgage. Quotes you get will vary, but be sure you are instructing a firm with the credentials to support you and your individual requirements.
