Jem has recently started at Goughs as Risk and Compliance Manager. With a passion for problem-solving and an analytical approach, Jem excels in finding the best solutions by examining issues from multiple perspectives.
Jem started out his legal career working in the legal add-ons of insurance policies, then moved to property litigation whilst studying for his CILEx qualification. Jem was then team leader of an in-house litigation team. In this role, Jem dealt with numerous complaints, demonstrating a strong ability to handle challenging situations and maintain client relationships.
Previously working for Lyons Davidson in 2011, his role focused on compliance matters, liaising with the Legal Ombudsman and conducting file reviews. Jem then went on to join Wilsons in 2018, furthering his expertise in compliance-related areas.
Jem enjoys the opportunity to help people. With a genuine desire to assist rather than hinder, Jem strives to provide effective solutions to challenges.

Jem specialises in client care, regulatory law, and risk management. Prior to his risk and compliance roles, he specialised in neighbour disputes and property litigation.
As well as having to study for his CILEx and work full time, Jem has completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge which is a sponsored 24 mile walk for charity over and across 3 of the larger mountains in the Yorkshire Dales. In his twenties Jem was also a 7-ball juggler and was able to use all sorts of circus-based paraphernalia!
