New lease maintains Chippenham Town Football Club’s proud standing in the National League South

Goughs Solicitors, one of Wiltshire’s leading law firms, has worked closely with Vanarama National League South side Chippenham Town Football Club to help secure the new lease of the Bluebirds ground.

The new lease needed to be in place before the end of 2018/19 season in order to comply with National League rules that any club must have a lease of its ground for the whole of the next season in order to retain its place in the league.

Experiencing unexpected delays to the initial lease renewal, Chippenham Town decided to instruct Goughs Solicitors to act for them.

Once instructed, the firm contacted the National League and was able to negotiate an extension to the deadline which, after a period of discussion with all stakeholders, enabled the lease to be finalised within the extended deadline.

Its conclusion has also enabled the Club to resubmit its Football Foundation Football Stadia Improvement Fund grant application which was on hold pending the new lease’s completion. The Club continues to maintain its proud standing within the National League South.

The Football Foundation is the largest sports charity in the UK funded by the Premier League, the FA and Government, via Sport England.  The foundation aims to develop new and refurbished grassroots sports facilities in order to improve the quality and experience of playing sport at the grassroots level.

Gemma Sumsion, Head of the Commercial Department at Goughs said “We are delighted to work so closely with such a well-known local club that has a great following and a proud heritage. With the new lease successfully concluded and the grant resubmitted, the future is looking bright for The Bluebirds. Best of luck for the season ahead”.
