Get to know me

I joined Goughs in 2026 and specialise in tax and estate planning, especially for clients whose personal and business interests overlap. My clients include families, trustees, business owners and farmers – and my aim is to help them to navigate complex decisions in a clear and practical way.

I am dual-qualified as both a solicitor and a chartered tax advisor which means I can help with all aspects of personal tax (especially inheritance tax, capital gains tax, income tax and stamp duty land tax), enabling me to advise you on the wider picture of any key life event. That includes estate planning, but it also covers lifetime events: maybe selling or retiring from a business, moving abroad, coming back to the UK, working out how to structure an investment or looking at how best to set your affairs up to run smoothly. I work closely with Goughs’ corporate and property lawyers, as well as private client colleagues, to offer a joined-up approach; this means you can come to us for advice on a family investment company, for example, or on a rental property business, and know that we can cover both legal and tax aspects under one roof.

Having worked in for firms in Bristol and London over the last 20 years, I have dealt with a wide range of clients. My aim for all of them has been to provide advice that takes account of their needs and real aims, and to explain technically complex issues in straightforward terms. Although tax advice is technical by nature, effective advice has to take full account of the human and commercial context.

My greatest achievement

One of my proudest personal achievements was conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2022. I also regularly conduct an orchestra in Bristol and have extensive experience as both an orchestral and choral conductor.

What I like about working for Goughs

Goughs is one of the few firms in the region offering an integrated private client and tax service outside London, providing clients with comprehensive, joined-up advice. The firm’s broad approach avoids over-specialisation and allows for more effective solutions.

The people here are welcoming and supportive, bringing knowledge and ideas while genuinely wanting to see both clients and colleagues succeed. Goughs is also a genuinely community-based firm that takes an active interest in the success of the individuals and businesses it advises. I value working in a practice that combines technical strength with personalised service and a commitment to helping clients thrive over the long term.
