I grew up in South Africa and moved to the UK in 2000 to join my family. I initially studied law at the College of Law London, and later completed my training in London.
In 2007, I moved to Wiltshire and joined Goughs as a Solicitor on the Residential Property Team. In 2009 I progressed to Associate, and only a few years later became a Partner.
I have always been proud of providing a very high quality of personal service to my clients. With my assistance, my clients have been able to make their lifetime investment, whether buying their new home or stepping onto the property ladder for the first time.

In 2009, I qualified as a Notary Public, making me the only member of Goughs to undertake this line of work.
I deal with commercial mortgages for property purchases, mostly for investors or companies. I also work on lease extensions and equity releases
My unique specialism is Notary work
Notary work is more specialised as it requires dealing with the realms of foreign jurisdictions. Most Notary work includes preparing and witnessing powers of attorney, corporate records, and contracts for use overseas, as well as authenticating personal documents in order to marry abroad, work outside of the UK, or for immigration and emigration purposes. There is a vast list of work that only Notaries can undertake and it can get quite confusing for clients who do not understand the difference between a Notary and a Solicitor.
"I had an appointment with Isabel, one of Goughs partners, and I was so pleased with her service. First of all, I almost missed my appointment as I had confused the dates and days, and on the day and time, she called me and reminded me of my appointment and rather managed to fix me in before her next client. I was so pleased because this was really an important appointment that I could not afford to miss and did not miss it at all. Thank you for your service."
"We used Isabel Figueiredo of Goughs for the conveyancing when buying a property. Isabel was very diligent in identifying land which wasn't adopted near the property, ensuring that the vendors completed a statutory declaration and provided indemnity insurance. Highly recommended."
"I used Gough Solicitors recently for their notary services and dealt with Isabel Figueiredo with this legal matter. Isabel's communication, professionalism, and efficiency were very much appreciated. We would highly recommend using Isabel and Gough's Solicitors anytime! Thank you!"
I initially obtained a 4-year degree in International Relations, which was all undertaken in a foreign language. Following my degree, I extended my studies to qualify as an English solicitor. Lastly, I am proud to have qualified as a Notary Public through the University of Cambridge.
I am supported by Jacqui Skudder, who is a Residential Property Assistant. Please feel free to contact Jacqui via jacquiskudder@goughs.co.uk
“Always on top of things.”
I have spent most of my professional career working at Goughs, and we have become akin to one big family, trying to support one another and our clients. Goughs is a firm that wants to achieve greatness and will go out of its way to do this. I believe that we are ahead of other local firms and tend to be ahead of our time.
