In 1988 I started off my career path in the Womens Royal Naval Service (WRNS) which was then part of the Royal Navy and served for eight years mostly in the UK with a three-year stint in Naples. On leaving the WRNS, I started training to be a Legal Executive at Osborne Clarke, where, after part qualifying, I headed up a small team of paralegals to undertake most of the Western Power Distribution commercial property work. I later joined Orange, as a Legal Assistant to deal with the infrastructure roll-out transactional work which was then in its early stages; 2G-3G. I also assisted with Orange’s retail portfolio of shops across the country. After qualifying in 2006, I joined the Ministry of Defence as an in-house lawyer and provided a broad spectrum of commercial property advice across their enormous estate. After fourteen years of working for central government, I decided to take on a new challenge, by going into private practice and joined Clarke Willmott as a Senior Associate in the sub-division telecoms team of the Commercial Property team, where I acted for landowners dealing with telecom leases and related transactions. After spending a year there, I worked for a short time at Mogers Drewett, predominantly dealing with leasehold transactions. I joined the Commercial Property Team at Goughs on 1st July 2024 to deal with all aspects of leasehold work.
To me, clients are the most important part of my job. ‘One size certainly does not fit all’ in this industry and it is crucial to grasp at the earliest stages, the specific needs of the client, whether they be individual or corporate, and tailor your advice accordingly, navigating them safely through any complex issues to completion.
I bring a wealth of commercial leasehold experience with the added advantage of having worked in-house and now in private practice, I bring a wealth of experience which enables me to anticipate some of the anomalies that may crop up when dealing with various parties.
