David Patterson

Partner and Head of Contentious Probate

Get to know me...

I have considerable expertise as to Will disputes including challenges to Wills on grounds of lack of testamentary capacity; undue influence; and fraudulent calumny. I advise Executors, Beneficiaries and Trustees in such disputes. I also advise as to claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, and proprietary claims including ToLATA, and estoppel disputes. I apply my skills as an accredited Mediator in achieving early settlements of disputes saving costs and time for clients.

I focus on building a strong rapport with my clients to gain their trust. I prioritise listening carefully to clients to ensure that I fully understand their needs and provide tailored, accurate advice.

Outside of work I enjoy walking my dog, gardening, I am a keen sportsman and passionate about skiing.

What I like about working for Goughs

From walking into the office for the first time I was welcomed by lots of new friendly colleagues. The Goughs values are really embedded in the culture. I am afforded the opportunity to grow a team within Contentious Probate and I look forward to training others in the future.
