Ross Phillips

Senior Associate

Ross is a Senior Associate in the firm’s Family department, based in our Calne office.  He joined Goughs in 2011 having completed his Law Degree and the Legal Practice Course at the University of the West of England.

He is an experienced family law specialist and advises a broad range of clients covering all legal and practical aspects of family breakdown including:

  • Divorce
  • Financial disputes and settlements involving complex issues, freezing injunctions, business interests, pre-marital wealth, pensions, trusts and the dissipation or concealment of marital assets.
  • Separation between unmarried couples, including disputes over property ownership and the preparation of agreements between unmarried couples to protect their contributions.
  • Disputes concerning children including issues surrounding taking children abroad, relocating within this country or oversees, contesting allegations of domestic abuse and changing a child’s name.
  • Domestic abuse and injunctions representing physical, emotional, psychological or financial abuse victims and defending alleged perpetrators.

Ross tailors his approach to disputes depending upon the client's individual needs. He is regularly instructed by those going through an acrimonious separation who require support throughout and often a forensic analysis of assets where money has been dissipated or hidden.

He applies a robust approach where required to resolve disputes quickly and in the best interests of the client.  He also gives pragmatic and commercial advice at an early stage where there is a risk to one party’s financial security or where the other spouse is seeking to delay, obstruct or frustrate what should otherwise be an amicable reconstruction of the couples’ finances following separation.

He often advises in matters concerning high net worth individuals with multiple properties, trusts, business interests, inherited wealth, pensions and assets abroad.

Understanding it is sometimes difficult to see a solicitor during normal working hours, Ross is happy to offer a free 30 minute consultation at short notice and is willing to be flexible as to the timing of such appointments
