Jonathan Shipton

Jonathan studied for his Law degree at the London School of Economics and, after qualifying as a solicitor, worked in the West End of London. Jonathan joined Goughs in 1986 and was made a Partner in 1987.

Jonathan has acquired an enormous amount of expertise in dealing with civil litigation and family cases and this led to him sitting as a Deputy District Judge for some seven years.

As a senior member of Goughs Family Department Jonathan specialises in the financial aspects of family work; involving both married and unmarried couples.

Jonathan also specialises in cases involving disputes over co- ownership of land or trusts of land relating to property owned by unmarried couples following the breakdown of a relationship

He also advises clients who have disputes over the validity of a Will as well as claims by someone not included within one, including claims for a greater share of an inheritance.

His aim in all matters in which he is instructed is always to try to resolve them in the least possible time and with the minimum of cost to the client whilst always ensuring the fairest outcome is achieved.

Away from the office Jonathan is a keen and active runner as well as being a supporter of Bath Rugby Club.
