For the last 20 years in November, the CRPS community, their families and supporters come together to help raise awareness.
Orange is the colour of CRPS awareness and the first Monday of November is known as “Colour The World Orange Day”. Landmarks, buildings, town halls and companies are asked to change their lights to orange and wear or do something in orange during the month.
CRPS is an invisible and chronic condition which can cause extreme pain for sufferers. 1 in 3,800 people are diagnosed with CRPS every year.
There are also important steps that you can take to get involved during CRPS awareness month, for example by writing your story and sharing this if you are a sufferer, to help others understand what it is like to live with the condition, or by organising fundraising events like a sponsored walk or bake sale for charities such as Burning Nights.
Things that you can do to get involved:
- Make a text donation – Text ORANGE to 70500 to give £5 to Burning Nights CRPS support
- Hold a fundraising event in aid of CRPS support. Take a look at the fundraising page on www.burningnightscrps.org
- Contact your local newspaper and / or local radio station and ask them to run a feature on CRPS
