Goughs Solicitors completes Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Devizes Opportunity Centre

On Saturday 5th September 2015, Wiltshire based law firm Goughs Solicitors took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for local children’s charity Devizes & District Opportunity Centre.

The Challenge involved hiking the peaks of Pen-y-ghent (691 metres high), Whernside (728 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres). The peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The Goughs team was delighted to complete the 39.2km (24.5 mile) hike in just under 12 hours, taking the running total raised for its Charity of the Year to just under £2,000.

The Devizes & District Opportunity Centre is a Specialist Early Years Centre committed to promoting the overall development and life chances of young children who have disabilities, learning difficulties and complex health conditions.

Goughs has pledged to raise £5,000 for the charity through a combination of fundraising activities in 2015, which in addition to the Yorkshire Three Peaks include the Chippenham Dragon Boat Race which took place earlier this year and the forthcoming annual Goughs Charity Golf Day at Cumberwell Park Golf Club, Bradford-on-Avon.

Ross Phillips, Family Lawyer at Goughs Solicitors, commented: “It was a fantastic accomplishment by all those that took part – a very gruelling yet somehow immensely enjoyable feat! Devizes Opportunity Centre offers an invaluable service to children in our local area. We are delighted with the support shown by our friends so far in donating to this worthy cause as they make the aches and pains all the more satisfying!”
